My Story

Kind and funny, so very talented, and a little bit posh. A much loved wife, mum, granny, and friend. As well as a provider of an excellent cricket tea. That was my Mum, Judy, who we sadly lost in January 2022 after an extremely short battle with cancer. She gave so much and now it is time to give something back. Therefore, I’ll be taking part and running in the The London Marathon on October 2nd, 2022, in honour of not just her, but of everyone else I know that has either lost, suffered, or has had to deal with this life changing disease in any way shape or form. The funds that I raise will go to the Institute of Cancer Research.

Towards the end of 2021, Mum became ill and was taken into hospital.  In early January 2022, she was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer and passed away 2 weeks later at St Helenas Hospice, Colchester. While the time we got to spend with Mum after her diagnosis was extremely short, we valued every second of it, and while this time will often be reflected on as a sad time, there were, of course, moments of joy, laughter, and smiles. She is still deeply missed and I cherish the time we spent together in January immensely.

I was originally offered a place to run The London Marathon back in October 2021, after pledging to fundraise for The British Heart Foundation in honour of my Dad who passed away 16 years ago, and who suffered, like some other members of my family, from heart problems. During his life, he volunteered for the BHF and I felt it only fit to follow in his footsteps. After Mum passed away, it only felt right to also honour her as well; therefore I am privately donating £3000 of Britwurst’s profits to the BHF, and while also hoping to raise the same amount for the ICR. Mum certainly would’ve wanted me to work for this instead of taking the easy route! With your generous support today, we can unlock new combinations of treatments to enable us to continue outsmarting cancer, and help cancer patients live longer and better lives with dignity.

Prize Draw

What better way to support a charity than by entering a prize draw? Not only will you be doing an amazing thing by donating, but you will also be in with a chance to win some really great prizes! Tickets cost €5 each and can be purchased on this website using PayPal (you do not need a PayPal account to do this though), or via a bank transfer. You can purchase as many tickets as you desire, and remember: The more you purchase, the greater the chance you have of winning!

Please note that this draw is open to everyone worldwide, not just residents of Austria or Vienna. I guarantee that all prizes are transferable to the country/area where you live (e.g. if you are UK based and won the Gurkerl.at voucher, then I would exchange this for a Waitrose/Ocado/Tesco etc. voucher of the same value in £. If you won the meat package then I would arrange something with your local butcher, or with a butcher who delivers nationwide, etc.).  We are doing this so that we can try to sell as many tickets as possible and include as many people as possible.  Therefore, there really is no reason to worry about not being able to enter due to where you live, as I’ll make sure that you win something that is of the same (if not greater value) as the original prize.
